Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Electrochemical Science and Hydrogen Technology (JESHT) is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct.

All submitted manuscripts must be original and must appropriately acknowledge the ideas, words, data, figures, tables, and other contributions of previously published or unpublished sources.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to JESHT may be screened using appropriate plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking software during the editorial and peer-review process. The purpose of similarity screening is to identify potentially duplicated or improperly reproduced content and to assist editors in assessing the originality of a submission.

A similarity report is not, by itself, evidence of plagiarism. The editorial team will consider the nature, extent, location, and source of the identified similarities before making an editorial decision.

Forms of Unacceptable Plagiarism

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text from another source without appropriate quotation and citation.

  • Presenting another author's ideas, concepts, methods, or findings as one's own.

  • Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate disclosure or permission.

  • Copying or reproducing figures, tables, images, or other copyrighted material without proper attribution or authorization where required.

  • Submitting substantially the same manuscript to multiple journals.

  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication involving substantial reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure.

Similarity and Editorial Assessment

JESHT does not rely solely on a fixed similarity-percentage threshold to determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Similarity may arise from legitimate reasons, such as technical terminology, standard methodological descriptions, references, commonly used phrases, or appropriately quoted material.

Each case is therefore assessed individually by the editorial team. Authors may be asked to revise or clarify sections containing inappropriate overlap before the manuscript proceeds further.

Action in Cases of Plagiarism

If substantial plagiarism or inappropriate duplication is identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. Depending on the circumstances, the journal may request an explanation from the authors or take other appropriate editorial action.

If plagiarism or significant unauthorized reuse is discovered after publication, JESHT may investigate the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with recognized publication-ethics principles. Such action may include publication of a correction or notice, amendment of the published record, withdrawal of the article, or retraction where warranted.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all sources are properly cited. Authors should obtain appropriate permissions for copyrighted third-party material where required.

Submission of a manuscript to JESHT constitutes confirmation that the authors have disclosed relevant previous publications and have not knowingly presented another person's work as their own.

Duplicate and Redundant Publication

Manuscripts submitted to JESHT should not be under consideration by another journal at the same time. Authors must disclose any closely related manuscripts, conference papers, preprints, or previously published material that could overlap substantially with the submitted work.

Where previous work is reused or extended, the relationship should be clearly explained and the relevant sources properly cited.

Commitment to Academic Integrity

JESHT is committed to protecting the integrity of the scholarly record. The journal encourages authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to report credible concerns regarding plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct to the editorial office so that they can be investigated appropriately.

All plagiarism-related cases will be handled with appropriate confidentiality, fairness, and consideration of the available evidence.
