The Journal of Dentistry and Oral Healthcare is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. The journal follows strict anti-plagiarism policies in accordance with international publishing ethics guidelines such as COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Plagiarism is defined as the use, copying, or close paraphrasing of another author’s ideas, text, data, images, or results without proper acknowledgment or citation, and presenting them as original work. This includes both intentional and unintentional misconduct.

The journal also considers self-plagiarism (reuse of one’s previously published work without appropriate citation or justification) as a form of plagiarism.

All submitted manuscripts are subjected to a plagiarism detection process before peer review. The screening includes:

  • Reuse of previously published figures, tables, or data without permission

  • Self-plagiarism or text recycling

Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.

3. Similarity Index Policy

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate or Turnitin or equivalent systems).

  • A similarity index exceeding acceptable journal limits will result in immediate rejection or return for revision.

  • Minor similarity (commonly citations, references, or standard phrases) may be acceptable if properly attributed.

4. Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that:

  • The submitted work is original and free from plagiarism

  • Proper citations are provided for all referenced material

  • Quoted text is clearly marked and acknowledged

  • Permissions are obtained for any copyrighted material

  • All co-authors approve the final manuscript submission

5. Editorial Actions on Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (submission, review, or post-publication), the journal reserves the right to take the following actions:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript

  • Return of manuscript for revision and correction

  • Retraction of published articles in severe cases

  • Notification to authors’ institutions or funding bodies

  • Blacklisting of authors in repeated or serious violations

6. Ethical Compliance

The journal strictly follows international publication ethics guidelines, including COPE best practices. Any ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data fabrication, will be treated seriously to preserve the integrity of scientific literature.
